Installation service for infrared panels by expert installers
We can imagine that you would like to have an infrared panel, but are afraid of the installation. You have probably never done it, and it must be done correctly.
We install infrared panels, underfloor heating and water heaters.
Preparations to be made
Infrared panels need electricity. Therefore, it is advisable to determine in advance (together) where we are going to install them for you. Hanging them on the wall is usually simple, as there is generally a socket nearby to power the IR panels. The part of the room where the infrared panels will be hung also depends partly on the decoration. To use the infrared panels efficiently, they must be hung without obstructions.
Installing infrared panels on the ceiling
The great advantage of infrared panels on the ceiling is that the heat distribution is always optimal. In fact, there are no objects that get in the way too close. In addition, the fact that the rays touch the floor can give the feeling that the cold goes away a bit. Of course, an infrared panel on the ceiling is not underfloor heating.
- When mounting infrared panels on the ceiling, it is important to know what material the ceiling is made of. In fact, most materials such as concrete, plasterboard and wooden ceilings are suitable. The exceptions where ceiling mounting is not possible are suspended ceilings and reed ceilings with plaster.
- It is often asked whether the back of the panel heats up and whether this can cause dangerous situations. This is never the case. Infrared panels never get hot enough to cause a fire risk. The temperature in the room can be easily regulated with a Wi-Fi thermostat. This can be wireless or flush-mounted. For wireless thermostats with remote control, a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network must be available.
Preparing the electricity
If there is no power supply at the desired location for the infrared panel on the wall or ceiling, our installers can propose a solution. Sometimes, moving a power point with a cable channel can be a solution. On the other hand, sometimes it may be necessary to mill a new groove in the wall to make the connection better and more aesthetic. When installing large or multiple infrared panels, it may be necessary to provide a separate group in the electrical panel. We can also help you with this. Therefore, there must be a phase/neutral wire present, the phase is brown and the neutral is blue. If it is a wet space, there must also be a ground wire present.
What products are included in the installation service?
The installation service can be purchased in combination with all infrared panels, heat bars and all thermostats or smart switches and water heaters. The most common installation method is the use of a thermostat in combination with surface-mounted RF receivers. It is also possible to connect the panels or heat bars to a flush-mounted thermostat or a smart switch, provided that a connection point is available.
Conditions for the installation service
The installation service is a comprehensive solution for the installation of your infrared panels. To benefit from it, some rules apply:
- There must be an accessible power point (junction box, flush-mounted box or socket) on the wall or ceiling less than 300 cm from where the panel is to be installed.
- This power point must be connected to the 230 volts of the home installation. If you opt for a flush-mounted thermostat, the installation point must have both the 230 volt connection and the connection to the panel available.
- We hang the panels up to a height of 2.50 meters. If you want them hung higher, we ask that you arrange a scaffold yourself.
- The workplace for the installer must be freely accessible. We ask that you dismantle lamps in advance and move (wall) furniture if necessary.
- If you choose a Wi-Fi thermostat, a 2.4 GHz network must be available. Also keep the login details for your Wi-Fi network and phone handy, so that the installer can pair the thermostat for you.
- If your situation does not fully comply with these conditions, an estimate of additional work will be made based on photos. This can be, for example:
- Running additional wiring to the panel or switch
- Distance greater than 300 cm from the power point
- Running more than 2 meters of cable channels
- Working at height (more than 2.50 m)
Additional work will be coordinated as much as possible in advance to avoid surprises. For additional work, €17.50 per quarter hour will be charged + any material costs.
Additional important information
- The installation service can be performed anywhere in the Netherlands, the Wadden Islands are also possible, for which we charge additional costs (for the extra time/transport costs).
- The service is only available in combination with infrared panels (and thermostats)/heat bars and water heaters.
- Always ensure a safe working environment for the installer.
- The installer will not make modifications to the electrical panel. The correct electrical connections (quantities) must be available before the installer's visit. If modifications need to be made to the electrical panel, we may have the option to use our electrician for this. The costs of this work are not included in the standard price.
- The installer carries one type of cable channel, RAL 9016 (adhesive strips). If you prefer another cable channel (color), we ask that you provide it yourself. If the cable channels are present when the installer arrives, they will install them for you. The costs include 2 meters of cable channel. If we need to install more cable channels, additional costs of €5 per meter will apply.
- If for unforeseen reasons you wish to return an infrared panel and/or a thermostat, please contact customer service.
- To dismantle the panel and/or thermostat, you can make a new appointment with Zo Veilig. If the right of withdrawal is exercised (free cancellation within 14 days), this is only possible for the products delivered.
- The installation service is a service and, therefore, is not subject to withdrawal. This means that, if you wish to cancel within 14 days, the products will be credited, but the installation work performed by the installer will not be deducted.
- If after the installer's arrival it is determined that the installation cannot be performed due to the lack of appropriate conditions (for example, technically impossible, insufficient power points, etc.), unfortunately we are forced to charge 75% of the total installation costs.
- The panels are delivered before installation. It is important that you take the panels out of the box and check for damage. If there is any damage, you must report it immediately, at the latest 48 hours before the appointment. If the damage is not reported, unfortunately we are forced to charge 75% of the total installation costs.
- If the installer finds no one at home at the agreed and confirmed time, unfortunately we are forced to charge 75% of the total installation costs.
- For the installation of certain products, the installer needs an additional person. You can play this role yourself, but if it is not possible, the installer must bring a colleague (you can indicate this when placing the order). In that case, additional costs will be charged. This applies to all infrared panels over 900 watts.
- If the preparations/conditions described are not met and the installer must return on another occasion to perform or complete the installation, we will also be forced to charge additional costs.
